Robert Batchelor

Director of Digital Humanities and Professor of History
Georgia Southern University
I am a historian who works on early modern mapping and material culture, especially objects related to maritime trade and the ocean. My traditional research work (London: The Selden Map and the Making of a Global City, Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2014) dovetails with my collaborative digital humanities and maker projects, such as the board game Fujian Trader (2016 with Sari Gilbert, http://www.fujiantrader.com/). My interest in Digital Humanities goes back to early work with the Stanford Humanities Lab in the late 1990's. I am currently working on a DH project involving several universities entitled "Pacific Routes" and am the Director of Digital Humanities at Georgia Southern University.
