Digital Humanities + Design Symposium @ Georgia Tech
May 4 @ 8:30 am – May 5 @ 3:00 pm

About

The DH + Design symposium, to be held at Georgia Tech, in Atlanta, on May 4th and 5th, 2017, will bring together leading scholars from the digital humanities and design to explore these increasingly convergent fields, and to identify additional possibilities for their intersection. We will facilitate a series of multi-format conversations around topics of shared concern, including the role of practice (and other applied forms of research) in each field; the similarities and differences between each field’s design processes; theories of speculation as they have been developed through the humanities and design; and how these two fields, together, might rally to address pressing matters of social and political concern.

Creating Web Maps using ArcGIS Online @ Georgia State University Library
Feb 6 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Does part of your research include site specific locations? Would an interactive web map that includes photos of these locations help contextualize your research? Or are you interested in incorporating mapping into your class assignments? If so, this workshop will teach you how to create online maps that can display point locations with pop up text and images. You will learn how to use the free version of ArcGIS Online and Google Sheets to easily create interactive web maps. You will also learn how to embed these interactive maps into blogging and website platforms such as Edublogs.
